Dixie Sherburne Haase's Obituary
Dixie Sherburne Haase, 72, passed away on September 25th, 2023, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Dixie was born on August 20th, 1951, in Clearwater, Florida, the 2nd of 3 children of the late William Sherburne and Wilna Marie Baskin Sherburne.
Dixie is survived by her daughter Holly Hiles, son Jeffrey Haase, daughter-in-law Laura Haase, brother Rick (Cindy) Sherburne, sister Haven Sherburne (Bill B.), grandchildren Lila Haase, Ava Haase, and Benjamin Haase, niece Kyra (Scott) Goodman, aunt Joyce Baskin, cousins Brad (Katie) Sherburne, Victoria Baskin Smith, Hamden (Robyn) Baskin, Margaret (Alan) Lyon Hatfield, Betsy Baskin Ashby, and Mike Lyon, special friends Renee and George, Linda and Dave, and so many more extended family and friends from her beloved Clearwater/Largo/Belleair communities.
Dixie is peacefully and joyfully reunited with her first born, David Hiles, along with her beloved Mother and Father, her Uncle Jay Finn who departed a few months ago, and all of her other loved ones who have passed.
Dixie attended Clearwater High School and graduated from Mount Ida Junior College with an Associates of Arts in Music. After graduation, she began a career as a dental hygienist, then a full-time mother, and also was often employed as a medical scheduler. Dixie retired in 2021 after working for 21 years at Baycare Health System, but shortly after resumed part-time employment at Orthopedic Associates of West Florida. She was married to Fred Haase, and later in life fell in love with her partner "Jim-Jim". She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clearwater as a child, and had a great love for Jesus, resulting in a resilient faith. Dixie enjoyed listening to and playing all types of music, spending time with her social circles of friends, and loved watching professional sports - her favorites teams were the Bucs, Rays, and Lightning most of all. Dixie's most important events in her life were the birth of her 3 children, and being with her family was most important to her. She was extremely loving and loyal, kind, effervescent, and had a larger-than-life personality. Dixie always remained hopeful, spiritual, and faithful, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
