Dolores A Mortimer's Obituary
Mortimer, Dolores A. passed away on February 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, after a lifetime of service to church and community. Dolores was born on June 13, 1953 to her parents George and Rosemary. She spent many years in Pennsauken, NJ with her brother Bill and sisters Joyce, Elizabeth, Linda, and Shirley. She married Allen Mortimer on February 5, 1977 and raised three boys Ryan, Tim, and Ken.
Dolores was a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, member of the Association of Play Therapy, Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor, and National Certified Counselor. She held two Masters Degrees in Mental Health Counseling/ Guidance Counseling and Specific Learning Disabilities. She had over 30 years of experience working as a therapist with children of all ages, families, individuals, and couples.
Dolores started the preschool and the Mothers of Preschoolers Infants and Toddlers group at Light of Christ Catholic Church. She also authored the book, Together as Parish.
She was passionate about educating others in the field of mental and behavioral health. She was an experienced speaker who presented a variety of mental health topics to parents, professionals, and members of the community.
Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
In 2006, Dolores founded the non-profit the House Of Mercy and Encouragement (HOME). Through HOME, she touched the lives of thousands of children and families.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, February 9th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 750 San Salvador Drive, Dunedin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, February 10th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Avenue N. Clearwater, FL. 33760.
