Dominick John Ficarrotta's Obituary
Dominick John Ficarrotta, age 92, of Palm Harbor, FL, has sadly passed on Monday, May 22, 2023.
He was born on February 2, 1931, in Tampa, FL to Joe Leto and Emelia Pellegrino Ficarrotta. Dominick was raised in Ybor City and lived in the Tampa Bay area all his life. He graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1949. He served in the United States Air Force and was Stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Tampa and received his master’s degree at the University of Florida.
Dominick worked as a teacher and administrator in the Pinellas County School system for 30 years. He taught at Palm Harbor Elementary and was an assistant principal at St. Petersburg, Dunedin, and Tarpon Springs High Schools. He and his sons enjoyed playing baseball together and Dominick coached little league baseball teams in Dunedin for many years. He was so proud of his daughter and looked forward to attending her dance recitals. During his retirement years, he loved playing golf and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was in the Bush League at the Clearwater Golf Club. He delighted in going to weekly breakfasts with his friends on both the Dunedin and Tampa sides of the Bay. He was loved by his family, students, teachers, in-laws, and many cousins and will be sadly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Antoinette Spano (John).
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ellen Herzog Ficarrotta; sons Michael Ficarrotta
(Gaye Auerbach), Stephen Ficarrotta; and daughter Sharon Golubic. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren; Nathaniel, Brooke, Joseph, Nicole, Nicholas, and Noah Ficarrotta; Alexander and Tyler Golubic; and great-grandson, Colton Matz.
His family will be holding services in his honor with Visitation on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 4-6 PM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home Dunedin, with Church Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church the following day starting at 10:30 AM. The family invite family and friends to join the at a luncheon reception following Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes.
