Donald Russell Alexander II's Obituary
Donald Russell Alexander II
January 9, 1957 - March 18, 2026
Donald Russell Alexander II, age 69, was born on January 9, 1957 at Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and died at home on March 18, 2026, following a short battle with cancer.
Don was a devoted child of God and a beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was deeply committed to his family and community, known for his servant’s heart and his contagious, sometimes outrageous, sense of humor. He found joy in helping others, whether by meeting a need, solving a problem, or simply helping someone feel seen, valued, and loved. For Don, these acts of service defined a life well lived.
He attended O’Keefe High School and graduated from Henry Grady High School in Atlanta in 1975, where he participated in R.O.T.C. and worked as a photographer for the school newspaper. He briefly attended Georgia Tech before serving in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant with the 1st Cavalry Division (1976–1982) at Fort Hood, Texas. His military service shaped his strengths in administration and fostered his lifelong belief in caring for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
Following his service, Don pursued careers aligned with his interests in cars, photography, and website design. He retired from MidFlorida Credit Union in 2020 after 22 years as an automobile loan officer.
Don loved God and loved people, especially those who felt overlooked or marginalized. He was active in fellowship, Bible study, and service ministries, including volunteering in food pantries across several faith communities. He was a member of Calvary Church in Clearwater. His favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11: “I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster; to give you a future filled with hope.”
He married his wife, Neppie, in 2011. Together, they lovingly cared for and supported aging family members. In 2019, they moved from Lakeland to Clearwater, where they cherished time with younger generations of their family.
Don had a passion for sportscars and classic cars and was involved in Faith Riders, a church-based motorcycle ministry. He treasured road trips and the memories made with family and friends along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Dzubiel Alexander and Donald Alexander, and his nephew, Shannon Bright.
He is survived by his wife, Neppie Alexander; his stepdaughters, Courtney Howell and Caitlin Howell (Craig Dolder); his sister, Lisa Bright (Lonnie); his nieces, Jennifer Daniel, Christina Trejo, Susie Moorehead (Jason), and DeeDee Monfort-Besel; his nephews, Kyle Monfort and Brad Monfort; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel by the Sea, 54 Bay Esplanade, Clearwater Beach, Florida. All are welcome.
