Donna S. Genung's Obituary
Donna Starr Genung, 79, of Clearwater, FL passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 under hospice care. She was born October 24, 1943 in St. Petersburg, FL to Donald and Florence (Aldrich) Genung, who have preceded her in death along with her husband Thomas Blackbear. She retired from Pinellas County Head Start after many years of teaching young special needs children. Donna was one of the founding members of The Refuge Church in Clearwater FL, where she tirelessly served and ministered to the homeless community, to include leading a weekly Bible study that was well attended. She later joined up with Mercy House of Praise in Largo FL, also an outreach ministry for the homeless. Once again Donna found herself leading a women’s Bible Study group. Donna was an Ordained Minister and used her special gifts in countless ways to help others, including ministry at multiple nursing homes and assisted living facilities within Pinellas County, as well as ministering to God’s animal kingdom.
