Dorothy "Dot" (Landers) Brown, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Dorothy touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of Marvin H. Brown, Jr., with whom she shared an extraordinary 71 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Dorothy was the loving mother of Marvin Howell Brown III and his wife Cathleen Cahill Brown (deceased), as well as Paula Brown Uselis and her husband, Anton “Tony” W. Uselis. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Kate Brown Key, William Howell Brown, and Taylor Anton Uselis
Born to Annie Archer Landers and Paul Landers, Dorothy was raised in Gadsden, Alabama. She was a proud member of the Northwood Presbyterian Church and an active participant in her community. Dorothy was also a lifetime member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Brenau College and the Auburn University Alumni Club.
Dorothy loved gathering with friends for a good game of bridge. She also enjoyed cooking and had a reputation for good southern cooking. But above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Her love and dedication to her family were evident in everything she did.
After raising her family in Vicksburg, Mississippi for 27 years, Dorothy and Marvin retired to Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she enjoyed her lifelong love for the beach and the serenity of sunsets, before eventually settling near her daughter in Palm Harbor, Florida, where she and Marvin lived for 24 years.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, devotion, and joy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice at SuncoastHospice.org.
A private graveside will be held at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL.
