Dorothy Louise Charron's Obituary
Dorothy Louise Peterson Fry Charron, 90, passed away on December 21st, 2024, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dorothy was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on April 15th, 1934, the 1st of 2 children born to the late Dr. James H. Peterson & Ruth E. Manley Peterson. Dorothy & her brother Robert were both born on April 15th, exactly 4 years apart.
Dorothy grew up attending Mt. Pleasant High School (Wilmington, DE) before attending college at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) & the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA), achieving her Bachelor's in Education. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and the Chi Omega Sorority. Dorothy then began her career as a teacher, teaching in Iowa City, IA, and in Pinellas County, FL. She retired in 1996, after working for 16 years, and enjoyed traveling the world in her retirement, visiting all 7 continents & spending lots of time with her grandson Andrew. Dorothy married her first husband David G. Fry in 1953, and her second husband Raymond Charron in 1977. The birth of her children and grandson were the most important events in her life.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Raymond Charron (1988), her parents James & Ruth, and her brother Robert Peterson (2016). She is survived by daughter Nancy Fry (Mark Pankratz) of Largo, FL, her daughter Susan Fry Regar (Donald Regar) of Parrish, FL, grandson Andrew Regar of Pensacola, FL, and first cousin Robert Manley (Mary Jane). She is also survived by her dear friends MaryLou Tripolino, Mary Horn, Kathy Lynas, Barbara Alexander, Bruce & Barbara Dittmar and predeceased by Jovanna Hill & Betty Batterman.
Dorothy was intelligent, particular, creative, loyal and empathetic. She was a major animal lover, and cherished her beloved pets as part of her family. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed volunteering with children, loved to go to movies and often got together with her OG gals.
