Dorothy "Dottie" Lee Roper's Obituary
Dorothy "Dottie" Lee Roper, 82, of Dunedin, Florida, left earthly life to be with her beloved husband of 52 years, George on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. She was born Dorothy Lee Strain on May 8, 1937 in Drew Mississippi. She is survived by her loving son, Jason and her niece, Jill Bronson. Dottie will join her parents, Walter, a cotton farmer, and Ida, a homemaker in Heaven. She met George, her ever loving husband and U.S. Army Veteran at a USO Dance and they were married in Shelby County, Tennessee on April 11, 1959. After honeymooning in Mexico, they moved to Marietta, Georgia where she worked as a secretary for the newspaper until her son, Jason was born. The family moved to Dunedin, Florida in 1991. Dottie was quite a seamstress making many of her own clothes, curtains and bedding. As a avid vegetable gardener, she enjoyed cooking for herself and Jason. Taking daily walks always gave her comfort. We will always remember Dottie for her "Southern Sweetness" and Loving Heart until we meet again!
