Dorothy L. Newman's Obituary
Dorothy “Dottie” L. Newman passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on December 24, 2022
Dorothy was born in Springfield, MA, to her parents Alexander and Margaret Young on August 23, 1937. She graduated from Tech High School in 1955. Dottie lived in Springfield where she raised her family and worked at Monsanto Co. with her husband until they retired to Clearwater, FL. In 1993.
Dottie was an avid traveler and reached many destinations stretching over 48 states and spanning 6 continents. In her spare time, you could catch her soaking up the sun at Clearwater Beach, and by night, eating peanuts while watching a Threshers baseball game.
Dottie was the facilitator of jokes, and her quick wit and humor instantly made her the life of the party. She was loved by all and feared by anyone crazy enough to challenge her to a game of Mah Jong or Words with Friends.
Dottie is survived by her loving husband, Robert Newman of 43+ years, her two daughters, Sheryl Stevenson (New Port Richey, FL) and Laura Smith and her husband Keith (Feeding Hills, MA). Lastly, she leaves behind her 3 beloved grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart: Alyssa Hutchinson and her husband Kyle (Harriman, TN), Alexa Smith (Feeding Hills, MA) and Kacie Bruns and her husband Zach (Jacksonville, FL).
She will be deeply missed but as she always said, “C’est la vie”.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sun Coast Hospice, North Pinellas Care Center, 164 West Lake Rd., Palm Harbor, FL 34684 on her behalf.
Services will take place Thursday, December 29, 2022, 2:00PM at the funeral home with the family receiving friends at 1:00PM
