Dorothy M. Nugent's Obituary
Dorothy May Stacey Nugent, 94, of Dunedin, FL, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013. She was born to the late Sidney and Kate Stacey, November 6, 1918, in Uniontown, PA. Dot graduated from Garfield Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., in 1939 and was a Registered Nurse. She married the late Arthur Leo Nugent in 1939, and they lived in Arlington, VA, before relocating to Dunedin, FL in 1978. They were married for 64 years. Dot was a first generation American. Both of her parents were born in England and worked on an estate in Pennsylvania where they met.Dot worked in psychiatry as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. and the Washington Hospital Center. Later, she worked for a private OB-GYN doctor in Washington, D.C.Dot was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunedin, FL. Dot had a lifelong love of quilting and needlepoint. She made many beautiful pieces for herself, family and friends. Dot was an active member of the Night Owl Hooters quilting club. Dot is survived by two children: Robert J. Nugent, Dunedin, FL, and James J. Nugent, McLean, VA. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Penn Nugent, Raleigh, NC, David Nugent, Palm Harbor, FL and Mary Leigh Phillips, Charlotte, NC. In addition, she has five great-grandchildren: Harrison, Logan and Ansley, Raleigh, NC, and Ella and Abby, Palm Harbor, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice House, Palm Harbor, FL. Funeral services will be held graveside at Sylvan Abbey, Saturday, March 2nd., at 2:00 P.M.
