Dorothy M. Usilton's Obituary
Dorothy “Dottie” Usilton died in Clearwater FL on December 12. 2018. She was born Dorothy Mae Wohlfarth on Tuesday November 4, 1924 in Brentwood, MD. Growing up the fifth of six children, she and her younger sister, Jean (Houde) often played piano and sang hymns in local churches. Dottie loved sports and played basketball in high school.
In 1945, she married her sweetheart, Roy Usilton. They were married for 65 years and had two children, Susan Usilton and Lee Usilton (both of Clearwater) and one grandson, Damian Heinz of Dunedin FL.
Roy and Dottie lived in Annandale VA for over 50 years, where she worked as a Fairfax County Crossing Guard for many years. She enjoyed crafts, including knitting and ceramics, and was an excellent bowler. She and Roy also enjoyed boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, where they kept a boat for many years.
They moved to Clearwater in 2007 where they loved boating on Lee’s boat and living in their condo nearby. Dottie was a member of the Island Estates Women’s Club, and leaves many good friends and neighbors in the area.
She was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church in Annandale VA, and also attended Chapel by the Sea in Clearwater Beach. A memorial service will be held January 16, 2019, 2:00PM at Chapel by the Sea (54 Bay Esplanade, Clearwater Beach). A second memorial will be held in Arlington VA at a later date.
