Douglas James Meyer's Obituary
Douglas James Meyer, known for his love of God, love of family and love of fishing, was born May 21, 1937 in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota to Hans and Rosemary Meyer. He was raised in a loving family with three brothers and a sister and a large extended family nearby. After graduating high school in Waconia, Minnesota, he joined the Air Force in 1955. It was during that time he met his wife, Carolyn M. Luenebrink. They married in 1959 and settled in Eden Prairie, Minnesota to raise their two daughters, Sandi and Sheri.
After the Air Force, he started in the banking business where he went from entry-level bookkeeping to vice-president of Northwest Bank (Wells Fargo). After 20 years in the banking business, he then purchased his father’s oil business. After his retirement in 1987 they enjoyed travelling and living in many places and eventually settled in southwest Florida.
He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was always willing to voice his opinion, he was the first person to call when anything needed to be fixed, and the first person to come if you needed help.
He is survived by Carol, his wife of 55 years; his two daughters, Sandi Hardee (David Eddie Hardee) and Sheri Kostick (David Kostick); his siblings Duane Meyer and MaryGail Keller; his five grandchildren, Naomi Foreman, Amber Britt (Jonathan Britt), Angela Falsetti (Brad Falsetti), Nathan Kostick, and Noah Kostick; and his three great grandchildren, Maddox Foreman-Lin, Isabelle Britt, and Ariana Falsetti.
He will be greatly missed.
