Edith Roman Alvarez's Obituary
Our family is deeply saddened to share that our beloved Edith Roman Alvarez, 70, was called home by her Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on November 20, 2025.
Edith was a devoted servant of Christ and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Blessed with many talents, she was an accomplished seamstress and an exceptional cook, creating beauty and comfort through the work of her hands — but her gifts extended far beyond the home. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service, carrying herself with a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
For many years, Edith served the City of Worcester in Worcester, Massachusetts, bringing patience, kindness, and dignity to every person she encountered. Her service continued beyond her career, as she faithfully volunteered wherever she felt called. She ministered to many as a chaplain here in Florida and, together with her husband, helped pastor their church, Alianza Apostólica in Pinellas County for 10 years. In the last four years of her life, Edith and her husband, Jorge, were grateful members of Iglesia Tampa Bay Para Cristo.
Edith carried her Puerto Rican heritage with deep pride. Through her traditions, her hospitality, and her joyful spirit, she became an informal cultural ambassador of the island she loved so dearly. Her warmth, generosity, and dedication to her family and community were a true reflection of her faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Erenia Santana Castro, and her brother, Pablo De Jesús.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Jorge Alvarez; her daughters, Jessika Ross and Erika Roman; her four grandchildren — Kiara, Brandon, Khalil, and Jonathan; and her siblings, Brunilda, Irving, and Violet. She is also lovingly remembered by those she helped raise as her own — Mikey, Xavier, and Gaby — who were blessed by her steady presence, guidance, and motherly care throughout their lives.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 1–4 PM at:
