Edward F Ifft's Obituary
IFFT, Edward F. 90, died peacefully on October 26, 2017 in Dunedin, FL.
He was born in Beaver Falls, PA on August 10, 1927 to Edward C. and Elfreda Rebeske Ifft. He was a 4 – year U.S. Navy Veteran, attended Georgia Tech and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer with Bell Aerospace Textron, Niagara Falls, NY for his entire professional career before retiring to Florida in 1990.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia Parrish Ifft; daughters Mary E. McKay (Roger), Anne K. Patrick (Michael), Paula I. McGirr (Rick), Margaret A. Varnadoe (Nick), and Patricia I. Anderson (Scott); 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Shirley R. Parrish; cousins Jack Smith and Wilfred Ifft; step-niece and nephew Nancy Grimm and Ed Miller and extended family. He is predeceased by sons Gerard, Paul, and Luke.
In his retirement, Mr. Ifft served on the Future of the City Committee, and the Volunteer Response Team, St. Pete Beach, FL; and the Bicycle Advisory Committee of Pinellas County, FL. He was a longtime member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. John Conference, St. Pete Beach, and in parishes in Cleveland Heights, OH and Niagara Falls, NY.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 750 San Salvador Drive, Dunedin, FL. Private interment service November 11th, Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, or Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.
