Eileen Kitzmiller's Obituary
Eileen Kitzmiller passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on November 3, 1937, in Bahner, Missouri, to the late Charles Joseph and Rose Adeline Weller Bahner.
Eileen is survived by her loving son, Charles Kitzmiller, and her daughter, Deborah Miles. She was a devoted grandmother to Amber Dennis and J.R. Dennis, and was deeply loved by many.
She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
Eileen Kitzmiller passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. She was born at home in Bahner, Missouri, and grew up on a farm near Sedalia, Missouri, where she helped milk cows, worked in the fields, and learned the value of dedication and family. One of eight children, Eileen attended first grade at St. John’s Catholic School in Bahner and continued her education through eighth grade at St. Patrick’s in Sedalia.
After completing her schooling, Eileen worked as a babysitter, helped on the family farm, and later took a part-time position at Woolworth’s Five and Dime Store. Though her mother did not allow her to attend high school, Eileen’s determination and curiosity never faded. A life-changing milestone came when she earned her college degree—an accomplishment she deeply cherished.
Eileen built a fulfilling career, ultimately serving as Assistant Executive Director at the Pinellas Housing Authority, where she worked with compassion and commitment until her retirement in 1998.
She found great joy in simple and meaningful pleasures—playing tennis, reading, traveling the world, and enjoying various card games. Her travels took her as far as Vietnam, yet she was most at peace in the comfort of her home, surrounded by those she loved.
One of the greatest blessings in her life was meeting her wonderful companion, Peter Strayer, with whom she shared many happy years. Eileen treasured time spent with her family, especially during dinners filled with laughter and conversation.
Eileen’s kindness, perseverance, and warmth touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she brightened.
A visitation will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 1320 Main St, Dunedin, FL, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 9am - 10am, followed by a funeral at 10am. Burial will be held immediately after at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
