Elaine M Jablonski's Obituary
Elaine M. Jablonski, a long-time resident of Pinellas County, died peacefully on August 16, 2017. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 9, 1928, the only child of Harland D. Minnich and Lillian McBert Minnich. Elaine had a passion for reading and as a very young girl, she would walk to the neighborhood library and check out several books at a time, which she would quickly devour and return for more. That passion expanded to the love of learning, which manifested in her pursuit of a B.A. at the University of Toledo; followed by a Masters of Education at Wayne State University at Detroit: and a M.A. in Spanish at California State University at Northbridge. Her stellar educational record ultimately earned her a career in guidance counseling at Clearwater High School from 1968-1992, where she was (and still is) affectionately known to many local students and parents and colleague as “Mrs. J.” While “Mrs. J. “had no children of her own, she considered all the students she counseled over the years to be “her kids” and she followed their careers long after they left the halls of CHS. She delighted in being able to make appropriate college placement recommendations for her students and then telling of all of their success stories. Their success was Mrs. J.”s own personal reward. She is survived by----and will be missed by—many loving friends, students and colleagues.
