Elizabeth H. Heath's Obituary
Elizabeth Jane (Betty) H. Heath was born on January 26th, 1934, in Gary, IN. She attended Lew Wallace High School, and lived in Gary until 1952, when she would begin her career in Civil Service.
Elizabeth began her work in 1952 as a Clerk-Typist, GS-3 and GS-4 at the Central Library of the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, in NC, where she would work until 1955. She returned to Gary, IN in 1955 to work as a Clerk-Stenographer at the Veterans Administration. Continuing her work in the Veterans Administration, in 1955 she would move back to NC, this time in Durham, working as the Secretary to Chief at the Hospital Professional Services, where she stayed until 1958. In 1959, Elizabeth began working as Clerk Dictation Translation, at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, in Augusta, GA.
In 1971, Elizabeth relocated to Clearwater, FL, where she would live out the rest of her life. Mrs. Heath was active in her community, volunteering as a key member of the Pinellas County Historical Society in the 1990s-2000s. She was also active Chairman of the Island Estates Yacht Club in the 1970s-1980s. Mrs. Heath was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Clearwater, FL.
Elizabeth passed away on the morning of March 25th, 2024 at the age of 90, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL.
She is survived by her son Michael D. Heath of Belle Isle, FL; daughter-in-law (Ju-ana) and Frankie Sanz of Belle Isle, FL; nieces Ruth A. Matthews of Swansboro, NC, Theresa A. Matus of Redington Beach, FL; nephews Dan Dail, of Brandon, FL, Andrew Heath, of Deep Run, NC, Dennis Heath and Daniel Heath, of New Bern, NC; many grand and great grand nieces and nephews, and a treasure trove of long time adored friends that were like family.

Inurnment next to the love of her life, William R. Heath, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension Memorial Garden, as well as a celebration of life, will be held at a future date.
