Elizabeth T Murphy's Obituary
Elizabeth T. Murphy, “Bette” passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18th, 2018, at the age of 93. Bette had been a resident at Coral Oaks assisted living in Palm Harbor, Fl. for the past year. Before that she lived in Doral Village in Clearwater, Fl. Bette was born in Vermont and lived most of her life in Lawrence and North Andover, Massachusetts.
Bette was an educator in the Lawrence, Ma. Public schools. She was an elementary teacher and worked hard to become a Principal, all while raising 4 children. During her career in Lawrence, Bette served as the principal of the Oliver, Leonard, Frost and Breen schools. She was also active in the Administrators Union.
When Bette retired to Clearwater, she moved next to her sister Phoebe Taylor at Doral Village. She became an active participant in all aspects of the park. She served on multiple committees and was a community leader. She had quite a full calendar with golf, bowling, cards, mahjong, bingo, dancing and karaoke. She was also a member of the Elks of Dunedin and the Moose of Palm Harbor.
Bette was predeceased by her husband John J. Murphy of Lawrence, MA., her son John J. Murphy II of Illinois, her sisters Hazel Cleary of Ipswich, Ma. and Phoebe Taylor of Clearwater Fl.
She is survived by daughters Joanne Kramer and partner Efthymios Begnis, Karen Brown and husband Michael both daughters reside at Doral Village in Clearwater, Fl. A son Thomas J. Murphy and his wife Kathleen of Chester, N.H. Grandchildren David Brown of Colorado, Michael Brown and his fiancée Kimberly Johnson of North Andover, Ma. Daniel Murphy of Lowell, Ma. and Kate Minichiello and husband Phillip of Merrimack, N.H. Bette was the proud Great-Grandmother “Gigi” to 7. Alexis Brown, Tyler and Elizabeth Johnson, of North Andover, Ma., Sean and Erin Murphy of Lowell, Ma. and Andrew and Brielle Minichiello of Merrimack, N.H. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at the Doral Village Clubhouse at 1pm. A memorial service will be held in North Andover, MA in the spring of 2019. Funeral arrangements by Moss Feaster Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
