Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Sagun's Obituary
Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Sagun
Betty Lou Sagun passed away after a brief illness on the date of November 14, 2014, just one day short of her ninety-first birthday. She was a resident of Clearwater’s “Top of The World” neighborhood, and an active member of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church since moving to a sunny Florida retirement in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Paul Sagun, and her son Stephen Paul Sagun Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Marie Kalinkiewicz, and her grandson Raymond Anthony Kalinkiewicz.
Betty was born and raised in Steubenville, Ohio, where she spent most of her career happily welcoming new life as an obstetrics nurse at Saint John's Hospital. Before that, she served in the Army, working as a nurse at Walter Reed Hospital in the days immediately after WWII. She was justifiably proud of her service, and was particularly honored to be able to participate in a 2013 “Honor Flight” to Washington, D.C. while accompanied by her grandson.
Betty and Steve treasured their friends and family, most especially the many friends that made them feel so welcome during their retirement “away from home” and we, their surviving family would like to express our endless appreciation to all those same people who helped make out parent's “Golden Years” truly wonderful.
If you wish to send a remembrance, please make a donation to the Suncoast Hospice, which was an immense source of comfort and generosity when needed the most, or Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Clearwater.
