Ellen M. McCarthy's Obituary
Mrs. Ellen McCarthy, age 91, passed away Saturday morning, July 11, 2020, at her residence with family in attendance. Ellen was preceded in death by Robert, the love of her life and husband of 58 years. She was also preceded in death by her daughter and grandson, Madelyn and Daniel Miller.
Mom, Grandma, GG, Aunt Ellen was a strong influence in the life of many of us who loved her. She was sharp witted, an avid bridge player, and taught her family to stand up strong. “Family – like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one”
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, and through the years of her life found many ways to give back to her community and to support various charities.
Ellen will be lovingly remembered by three children and their spouses - Pat & Duane Washkowiak of Tempe, Arizona; Michael & Cynthia McCarthy of Clearwater, Florida; Susan & David Moylan of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. She will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren and their spouses – Mike and Eryn Washkowiak, Tim and Sarah Washkowiak, Matt Washkowiak, Chrissy & Richard Geier, Mac Moylan, Brianna Moylan and Sean Moylan. And finally, Ellen will be missed by her seven precious great-grandchildren - Kayliegh, Matthew, Ellie, Claire, Colette, Lucas and Sophia.
Instead of flowers or donations, Ellen would want you to express your love to those you value in your life and to be selfless to those in need.
