Elton Lacy Jaco, Jr
Elton L. Jaco, Jr passed away March 16, 2015 at the age of 96 1/2. He was born August 12, 1918 in Fostoria, Ohio to Lucy ( Kellums) and Elton Jaco, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Norvile and sisters Julia, Ethel and Margret and his son Elton Lawrence ( Skip). He was also preceded by his first wife Thelma Staiger and second wife Thelma Ellis. He is survived by his daughter Donna V. Carpenter (Rory), two granddaughters: Megan Bejin (Matt) and great grandsons Chris and Nate, and Brie McShane ( Charles) and great grandsons Rory, Dane, and Charlie.
He was a All Star Baseball player both in High School (Collinwood) and in many local semi pro leagues (Fisher Foods) in the Cleveland area. He was drafted by the St.Louis Browns just before he entered the service. Elton served in World War II ( Pacific) in the Navy as a Radar ManThird Class on the USS Tamalpais, USS Samaritan, USS Pinkney, and USS Seattle before being discharged in 1946. He belonged to the Acacia Lodge # 651 of the Mason’s from Cleveland for many years. He work for over 44 years at National Acme as a machinist in Cleveland before retiring in 1980. In 1989 he moved to Florida and into Mease Manor in Dunedin in 1995.
He left the cold Winters around Cleveland and moved to Florida to play 36 holes of golf everyday. Sports played a major part of his life from playing baseball, bowling, golf and the enjoyment of being a spectator later in his life. He also, would never pass up a good game of Bridge, go Dancing, or a good Party.
He will be missed by his family and many friends.
