Erik Russell Leer's Obituary
Erik Russell Leer, 50, of Safety Harbor, FL passed away unexpected on November 10, 2025. Erik was born on September 15, 1975 in San Francisco, CA, to Edwin Roger Leer and Nancy Margaret McCullogh.
Growing up, Erik was known to have an adventurous and active spirit where he could be found after school doing karate, horseback riding, or fencing. Even as a young man, Erik, showed dedication and hard work, and he brought that to his 20-year career at the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, his most current role there was as a fleet maintenance supervisor. Erik had a lifelong appreciation for firearms. His passion included researching, building, treating, and conditioning his guns. He enjoyed the craftsmanship and history behind them. He was also an advocate for gun safety, and you could find him at the shooting range teaching newer people and modeling for them the proper techniques.
Those who knew Erik will remember him for telling jokes or puns and even if you didn’t laugh at them, he would. And you couldn’t forget that laugh, he laughed with his whole body! Erik still believed in calling people sir and ma’am and his respect generosity for others will be the things he is most remembered for.
Erik is survived by his wife, Jessica. Erik is also survived by his son, Erik, and His daughter, Alexis, with whom he had been estranged, but whom he always hoped to reconcile with and cherished in his heart. Erik was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Nancy, and his son Sean.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Clearwater, FL. Friends and Family are invited to attend and share memories of Erik.
