Mrs. Aquino had a huge impact in my life. My mother passed away when I was three and my dad worked a lot. When Arvin and I became friends in fourth grade Mrs. Aquino stepped in and showed me the love of a mother. She would say that I was another son to her. I can still hear her voice saying to me “David come sit down and eat some rice and patis”. There were times I would be home sick, and my dad would be working so she would come check on me. She would bring me soup and check to make sure my fever was not too high. I learned the love of a mother as I would observe her with her family. Her example was a great guide to me as I started my own family. Her legacy will carry on through my life and the lives of my kids. I know that the Lord used her so mightily in my life and I can say without a doubt that I would not be the man I am today without her. I know you are with the Lord now and I look forward to the day I can see you again. You will always be the only mom I have known. I love you.
To the family: Thank you so much for all the love you showed me. I always felt welcomed and loved. I grieve for your loss and will pray for the Lord’s comfort.
