Frances Carinta Genna's Obituary
Frances Carinta Genna, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at Grand Villa of New Port Richey, Florida.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Florida in 1976, where she made her home with her husband and family. In 2020, Frances relocated to Maryland to live with her daughter before returning to Florida in 2026.
Frances dedicated her career as a Head Chef at Mease Hospital in Dunedin and Countryside, where she shared her passion for food and caring for others. She was a devoted member of her Catholic faith and found great joy in singing in the church choir, where her voice echoed beautifully through the pews.
Frances loved cooking for her family and anyone fortunate enough to know her. One of her most cherished traditions was hosting St. Joseph’s Day feasts, where she lovingly prepared meals for hundreds of people in her home. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, teaching her family to dance with grace and joy. In her quieter moments, Frances crocheted, creating handmade pieces that brought warmth and comfort to her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Genna; her parents, Antonino and Angelina Risico; and her siblings, Joseph and Jenny Risico.
Frances is survived by her loving children: Victor Genna (Rebecca), Ronald Genna (Lori), and Marianne Markopoulos (Andy). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Danielle Allen (Aaron), Ronald Genna (Andrea), Bethany Mortellaro (Michael Angelo), Elizabeth Cox, Nicole Nikitaras (Andreas), Victoria Johnsey, and Andrew Markopoulos (Rand), along with sixteen great-grandchildren: Megan, Savannah, Archie, Cody, Nathan, Adalynn, Malachi, Enzo, Luca, Gio, Spiros, Petros, Anastasia, Samson, Aria, and Gavin.
A visitation will be held on Friday at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin, from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:30 PM. Burial to follow at Brewer & Sons Parklawn Memorial Cemetery in Dunedin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Hearts + Stones – Building Together” at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church to support the youth educational building fund.
