George William Dollar Jr.'s Obituary
George W. Dollar, Jr., 68, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on November 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
Born to George Sr. and Dorothy Dollar on August 17, 1956, during a heatwave in North Carolina, George was the first baby welcomed at the new local hospital.
George’s academic journey was marked by a profound commitment to learning. In addition to his bachelor’s degree, he earned two master’s degrees and pursued advanced doctoral studies, equipping him with a wealth of knowledge that he shared over a distinguished career in higher education. As a professor, George dedicated his life to guiding others toward their own academic and personal achievements. His legacy as an educator and lifelong learner will continue to resonate with those whose lives he touched.
George was a deeply generous man, giving freely of his time, talents, and resources to help others. He believed in kindness as a guiding principle and was known for always putting others first, often at his own expense. His selflessness and compassion left a lasting impact on his community and those fortunate enough to know him.
Above all, George adored his children, who were the light of his life and his greatest source of pride. He found his greatest joy in supporting their dreams, celebrating their accomplishments, and pointing them toward God. His legacy of love, dedication, and kindness lives on in them.
George is predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife, Renee; his sister, Marcia Phillips (Bill); his children, Carissa Brown (Dustin), Braden Dollar (Lauran), and Caitlyn Burnham (Austin); and his granddaughter, Braylie Dollar. His life was a testament to love, generosity, and the pursuit of knowledge.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” – 1 Peter 4:10 ESV
