George Wayne Wihbey Sr.'s Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Wayne Wihbey Sr. (Wayne Sr.), a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and respected professional, who departed this life on January 11th, 2025.
Wayne Sr. was a dedicated and loving father to his children, Jacqueline Wihbey, Valerie (Conrad) Girrens, and George Wayne (Jeanine) Wihbey Jr. (Wayne Jr.); as well as to his step children, Robert (Cheryl) Bearce, Crissy Bearce, and David Bearce; and a cherished husband to Leslee Wihbey. His love and commitment to his family were the cornerstones of his life, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Professionally, Wayne Sr. made a significant impact as a broker for his own company, Capital Underwriters. His expertise, dedication, and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. His career was marked by a relentless commitment to excellence and a passion for supporting his clients' financial goals.
A devout Catholic, Wayne Sr.'s faith was an integral part of his life, guiding his actions and providing him with strength and comfort. He was also a proud veteran of the army, having served his country with honor and distinction. His service and sacrifice are a testament to his character and patriotism.
Wayne Sr. loved fishing with his son Wayne Jr, woodworking, reading, shooting, and tinkering in the garage. He loved to work to solve problems and make new wood creations for his family.
Wayne Sr.'s legacy extends to his cherished grandchildren: Dylan Girrens, Aly Wihbey, Gianna Wihbey, and Katherine Wihbey, as well as his step-grandchildren: Gerry, Leah, Breanna, Amanda, Andrew, Taylor, and Lexi. He took great pride in their accomplishments and was a constant source of support and encouragement in their lives.
His life was a tapestry of love, faith, service, and professional achievement. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the many ways in which he enriched our lives and the lasting impact he left on all who were fortunate to know him.
A memorial service to honor George Wayne Wihbey Sr.'s life will be held on January 24 at Moss Feaster, Dunedin, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and share their cherished memories.
