Gerard Thomas Fitzpatrick's Obituary
Gerard “Gerry” Fitzpatrick of Largo, FL passed away March 12, 2023, at the age of 79. Gerry was born in Boston, MA on September 1, 1943, to Joseph and Theresa (Shannon) Fitzpatrick. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Dena (Donovan), his sons Michael of Boston, MA and Starnora of Largo, FL, and his daughter Camilla of Melrose, MA. He is also survived by his brothers Joseph, Edwin, and Kevin; his sister Claire, and many nieces and nephews. Gerry graduated from Mission High School in Roxbury, MA, Bryant and Stratton, Coyne Electric, and finally Northeastern University, where he earned an accounting degree nights while working full-time for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. He began working for the MBTA as a trolley driver and retired as an accountant. In New England, Gerry enjoyed skiing and bowling. He especially enjoyed camping in everything from a pup tent to a trailer, spending many summers at Clearwater Campground in Meredith, NH. Many wonderful family memories were made there camping and sitting around the campfire. Gerry was a Pack Leader for Pack 126 of the Boy Scouts in Franklin, MA. In 2000, Gerry moved from Franklin, MA to South Pasadena, FL and later to Largo, FL. Here he enjoyed the warm weather and the Gulf waters. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, biking, golfing, attending Tampa Bay Rays games and meeting new people. In later years, time was spent with his cat Cozy and taking pictures of Florida’s many birds. A funeral mass will be held Monday, March 20th at 10:00 AM at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Clearwater, Florida. A viewing will be held preceding the mass from 8-9 AM at Moss Feaster funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry’s honor to Covenant House or the SPCA, whose missions he cared deeply about.
