I was blessed to serve under Gordon Methvin as my elder for a couple of years. He gave me my first opportunity to preach and the first check I received for preaching had his name there. He opened doors for me to return to the ministry in Florida. For years he was just a call away with his counsel. I will always be thankful for his influence and direction. May EvaJane, Doug, Debbie, and the Central congregation continue to be blessed.
When I was 7 I broke my arm. After it healed he would take my hand in a shake and actually shake my entire arm, saying “how’s your arm?” I moved away the next year, and every time I visited Central (maybe once a year) he’d do it without fail. I’m 23 now. He’ll be missed, and I can’t wait to see him again.
May the Lord continue to comfort you and your family during your time of bereavement. May He assure you that they are blessed who die in the Lord (Rev. 14:13). May He release in your heart the sweetest and most precious memories of your husband and father. And may He fulfill your desire to see him again in Heaven. Praise the Lord for a life that glorified the King of Glory and for a servant that uplifted the Great Resurrector!
