Gordon William Palmer's Obituary
Gordon William Palmer of Gaylord, Michigan and Palm Harbor, Florida was promoted to glory on March 14, 2017. Husband of Pearl for 59 years, father of Gillian Colyer, Doreen Green and Carole Yoder ("his girls"), grandfather of Stephen and Lindsay Colyer, Lauren, Kevin, Brian, Karen, Brendon and Lily Green, Evan, Mitchell and Andrew Yoder. Brother of Wesley Palmer and Margaret MacDonald.
Gordon was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. Gordon and family immigrated to Michigan in 1967. He was a sales engineer for Kolene Corporation for 33 years.
Gordon was a soldier at The Salvation Army all of his life. Former bandsman of Rutherglen and Middlesbrough in the UK, Dearborn Heights, MI and Clearwater, FL. He also served as Songster Leader @ Dearborn Heights Corps for many years. Gordon was a founding member of Motor City Brass and Northern Brass. Upon retiring in 2000, he also became a member of The First United Methodist Church in Gaylord, Michigan. An avid golfer, Gordon also enjoyed sailing, kayaking, fishing, biking, tennis and walking.
A celebration of Gordon's life will be held at The Salvation Army, 1625 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater on Friday, March 17 @ 10 am. A viewing will be held @ MossFeaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater on Thursday, March 16 from 6 - 8 pm. Memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army World Services, c/o 1625 N.
