Gordon Clyde Shaw's Obituary
Gordon Clyde Shaw, 87, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on December 6th, 2021. He was born on May 19th, 1934, in Paterson, New Jersey to the late James & Fanny (Julander) Shaw. He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1951 and joined the U.S. Army, where he served as a military police operations clerk. Gordon graduated from Lehigh University in 1958. He worked as a computer programmer in Rochester, New York, and taught computer science for Adult Education classes, the graduate program at the University of Rochester, and for the undergraduate program at Rochester Institute of Technology.
He was also a beta tester for IBM while working at General Dynamics and a beta tester for AOL emails. He was the director of computer programming and operations at Sybron corporate headquarters until he retired at age 50. Gordon volunteered for National Public Radio for 18 years, at three different hospitals, and for the Fairport (NY) fire department. He climbed to the top of the highest mountain in 37 U.S. states and 5 Canadian provinces.
Gordon is survived by his daughter Valerie of Poinciana, Florida, and his daughter Barbara of Maumee, OH, as well as two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
