Gregory Carl Steinke Sr.'s Obituary
Greg was born in Kenosha Wisconsin on March 31, 1956, and passed away on August 15, 2021 in Madison, Wisconsin, at the age of 65, from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Greg enjoyed life to the fullest. Greg was an avid scuba diver and spear fisherman. He made many trips lobster hunting, spearfishing and scalloping. He also enjoyed hunting in Wisconsin Dells for many years. He loved boating, no leisurely boating; full throttle all the way boating! Greg named his boat ‘No Discussion ‘. He also loved his motorcycles and rode a lot of miles over the years. His favorite spot in the world was his 41 acres in North Florida. Many weekends were spent working on projects, kayaking, 4 wheeling, and walking with the dogs. And I can’t forget that he loved the Green Bay Packers.
He left Wisconsin as a young adult to move to Florida where he met and married Kelli Marie McLeod. They were married for over 20 years and had 3 children together. She passed away in 2012. Greg and Kelly Nevin were married in 2017 and resided in Clearwater, Florida.
Greg was a union painter in Wisconsin then, after moving to Florida, he worked for Wilson Keho for several years before starting his own company, Cornerstone Painting. He then purchasing Al Leach Painting & Restoration in 2000 where he was the owner/operator until his passing.
Greg will be sadly missed by many friends and family. He is survived by his wife Kelly Nevin-Steinke, His children Gregory Steinke Jr., Clearwater, FL, Ian Steinke, Columbus, OH, and Kendall Steinke, Clearwater, FL, and his stepdaughter Alexandra Ford (Richard), Solon Springs, WI. His grandchildren Andrew, Reed, Raven and Remy. His sisters Debbie (Kevin) Edwards, Kenosha, WI, and Cindy (Scott) Ginn, Cypress, TX.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Matilda Lange father Carl Julius Steinke, wife Kelli, and grandson River.
A visitation will be held at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd. Clearwater, FL 33764, on Wednesday, August 25th from 5:00PM-6:00PM with a memorial service following at 6:00 PM.
