Greta Ann Jones' Obituary
JONES, Greta A, passed away peacefully and comfortably on October 5, 2016 surrounded by her family at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor.
Born in Caledonia, MN on May 14, 1928, Greta attended the University of Minnesota majoring in Fashion Merchandising where she met her husband, Howard, while on a blind double date (with someone else). She spent a majority of her life in MN raising her kids and participating in the local community. Greta’s career focused on teaching modeling and fashion merchandising, eventually owning two different women’s clothing boutiques.
In 1994, they moved to Florida in order to be closer to their grandsons. Greta was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Bay Bouquet Garden Club, the Dunedin Golf Course and an avid bridge player. She also loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, dancing and traveling around the world with Howard. She was a devoted animal lover with two cats (and feeding an egret or two). Greta was a kind and generous soul who touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by father Conrad Nelson; Mother Dorothy Nelson, Brother Peter Nelson, and Husband Howard. She was a beloved mother to son Kirby and daughters Dana Jones and Nancy Benedict, and grandmother to Kenji Jones (Alice) and Tomiya Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, at Faith Lutheran Church in Dunedin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice.
