Harold "Dean" Culbreth's Obituary
Harold “Dean” Culbreth of Largo, Florida passed away June 9, 2022. Dean was born July 8, 1939 in Rutherford County, North Carolina to Joseph Hoyle Culbreth and Mary Zelma Sherrill Culbreth, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Rutherford-Spindale Central High School where he enjoyed playing many sports such as track, football and wrestling. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma. With his adventurous nature, Dean solo piloted a piper cub airplane at the age of 14, and he enjoyed motorcycle trips with his numerous friends. Throughout his life, Dean greatly valued his family and friends, spending time enjoying antique cars with his brother, Dr. Fay H. Culbreth and playing golf with friends. Dean had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest!
Dean is survived by his sons Andrew Dean Culbreth (Drew), Jason Paul Culbreth and wife Melissa Culbreth, his daughter Carol Culbreth Autry and her husband Rob Autry, his grandson Blane Autry and granddaughter Karis Autry, his brother Dr. Fay H. Culbreth and wife Winnie Culbreth and their daughters and grandchildren, and his many devoted friends.
A celebration of life will be held in Clearwater Beach, FL for family and friends on July 23, 2022 at the Clearwater Beach Marriott on Sand Key.
A memorial service will be held on August 6, 2022 at Kistlers Chapel United Methodist Church, 3060 Poors Ford Road, Rutherfordton, NC at 12:00pm.
