Helen D. Sue Harrington's Obituary
Helen D. (Sue) Harrington, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in Dunedin, Florida. She was born on August 1, 1920 to Frank and Helen (Eckert) Thalheimer, in Newark, N.J., the second youngest of 6 children. She graduated from Belleville (NJ) High School, and later worked as a receptionist and telephone operator. On August 21, 1943, she married James Harrington in Ft. Myers, FL. Over the next 71 years of marriage, they joined together in lovingly raising three children, and shared numerous adventures in travel, business ownership, and community service. Helen’s charitable work included comforting hospital patients and providing Christmas gifts and joy to orphaned children. Helen is lovingly remembered by her daughter Maureen Kimball (Ben Blum), son Jeff (Cathy) Harrington, granddaughters Alison Harrington and Morgan Harrington, and great-grandson Aiden Harrington-Gade. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Elwood, Joseph, Wilbur, and Franklin (Mal), her sister Barbara Drew, her husband James (Jim), and her son James (Jim). Helen will be remembered always for her devotion to family, her caring and generous way, and her love of all the enjoyment and meaning that life has to offer. A warm light was always felt in her presence as she showered everyone who crossed her path with love. A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 2:30pm until 4:00pm at Mease Continuing Care, 910 New York Avenue, Dunedin, FL. Helen’s family is extremely grateful to all of the staff at Mease Manor and Mease Continuing Care for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Mease Foundation, Dunedin, FL.
