Helen M Melko's Obituary
Helen Melko, 100, passed away January 18, 2015.
Helen was born January 2, 1915 in Czechoslovakia and moved to the U.S. at age 13 and to Clearwater in 1953. She was the owner of Highland Beauty Salon and Helen's Beauty Salon, both in Clearwater. She was a successful business woman with a zest for life and truly lived the American dream. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday on January 2nd.
Helen was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church Women's Guild and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed bowling, and loved playing Bingo. She was also very artistic and was a top class seamstress. She was an excellent cook and absolutely loved having family over and serving everyone.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband John S. Melko and son John S. Melko, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Lillian (Jack) Spangler; grandchildren Jill (Dennis) O'Connor, Lisa (Ed) Bishop, Jack (Jill) Spangler, Jr., Thomas (Kandy) Spangler, Erika (Rob) Murdocca, Jennifer (Barton Gilmore) Melko; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
A visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 at Moss Feaster Dunedin Chapel with a Funeral Mass Saturday at 10 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
