Helen Louise Tarbox's Obituary
Helen Louise Scanlan was born May 16th 1940 in Massachusetts. Her story of more than 53 years of love and marriage began back in 1958. After graduating from high school in 1958 she went to work for Orange and Rockland Utilities. While working there mom met the love of her life, Mr. Richard Harris Tarbox. They were introduced on a blind date and two years later were married on May 1st 1965 and at this moment the Tarbox family began! Not far after their marriage Jennifer Anne Tarbox was born on June 21st 1966 and their first son Richard (Rick) Harris Tarbox Jr would be born May 10th 1967. Their lives continued grow as they would welcome their third child on December 2nd 1978 Steven Cameron Tarbox
The Tarbox family would move to Florida back in 1980 to wonderful city of Clearwater, where all of our journeys would begin together in the neighborhood of Woodgate. Mom would go on to work in the school system in the early 80’s at Sandy Lane Elementary and San Jose Elementary for over 15 years. She always loved children, and truly enjoyed being the lunch lady for many years. There was never a moment she wouldn’t give to a child that needed a hug or some words of encouragement to help them get through their day. She was a second mom to many in the school and in the neighborhood where we grew up.
As we grew the foundation of love, family, kindness and respect would resonate in all of us. We were taught the importance of family and sticking together through all of life’s ups and downs. This would shine through with all three children as we would all fall in love and get married to our current husband and wives. The values would continue with the love and traditions that mom and dad instilled in us. Mom would eventually be blessed to love and cherish all eight of her grandchildren. The sweet and tender hugs and kisses that Nanna would engulf her grandchildren with, were enough to heal any bump, bruise or to just simply show affection. Mom’s love will live on with all of us and will never be forgotten. Thank you all who have reached out to us in this difficult time. Mom is smiling bright down upon us as she witnesses the love and joy she brought to all our lives. May God bless you all.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
The Tarbox Family
