Tribute and Honor to our beloved Helga
Helga Torres (Aponte) was born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, on April 11, 1946 and passed away on September 5, 2018 in Clearwater, Florida. She joined our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary in heaven surrounded by her husband Deacon Eusebio (Papo) Torres, her children Angel Rafael, Francisco Javier and Maria Cristina, other family members and friends. Pre-deceased by her beloved parents Rafael Aponte and Ana Maria Peña. Helga was one of many siblings, raised by her grandparents Francisco Peña and Julia Ruiz. Graduated from John F.Kennedy High School in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico in 1964. Attended the Catholic University in Ponce, Puerto Rico pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1967. In 1969 met her future husband, the love of her life, who had just returned from the Vietnam War. The Diocese of St. Petersburg along with the Deaconate community and Lay faithful as a whole will miss her very dearly. May her soul rest in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ, our blessed Virgin Mary, Angels and Saints.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 12th 6:00PM - 9:00PM at the funeral home, 693 S. Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL 33764 and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 13th, 10:30AM at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, 820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater, FL 33756 with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
