Rick Misenti
My son, Kyle and I lived next door to Herman, Lavon and their family for more than 30 years. Throughout those years, whether it be working together in our yards, visiting local restaurants together or simply enjoying an afternoon or evening of conversation sitting on the front patio, I realized early-on how much of a premium Herman placed upon three things: God, family......and his Florida Gator and Kentucky Wildcat college basketball teams!
Herman lived each day by the Word of God. Sunday services re-energized him and his love and presence ALWAYS for Lavon, Kathy, Aimee, and Michelle was scripture perfect! I can only imagine the sadness of Aimee and Michelle (whom I watched grow up under the watchful eyes of Herman) missing those daily morning phone calls with their grandfather. Oh how his eyes would light up when that phone rang!
Herman's family extended beyond Jeffords Street and I enjoyed hearing about his family in Kentucky and the love that he had for them. Maybe I'll visit Cynthiana or attend a Sadler reunion someday!
During college basketball season, Herman and I talked Gator/Wildcat basketball all the time. In fact, it was this time every year that we both enjoyed the college basketball season the most.
Finally, Herman and Lavon were both blessed to have Kathy by their side at their most needy times. And such love only validated what I already learned from Herman. Good parents live forever. And in the lives of Herman Sadler's family, Herman's Godliness is immortal.
God bless Herman and his families in Florida, Texas, Colorado and Kentucky. I have truly been blessed by being so fortunate to have Herman Sadler a part of my life. I will truly miss our frequent contact with each other. I will truly miss you.
In prayer,
Rick Misenti
