Holland "Tony" Anthony Elmore's Obituary
Holland Anthony “Tony” Elmore (74) of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021. Tony was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on March 25, 1946 to Holland William Elmore and Mary Isabel (Rumfelt) Elmore. Upon graduation from Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC, Tony enlisted in the Navy, serving for two years during the Vietnam War on board the USS Kearsarge where he was awarded a bronze star. His avid interest in flying led him to pursue a career in the airline industry which spanned 35 years, from customer service agent to computer programmer, retiring from Northwest Airlines (now Delta) in 2001 as an IT project manager. Upon retiring, Tony relocated from the Twin Cities, Minnesota to enjoy his golden years in Tampa Bay, Florida. After 9/11, Tony joined the newly formed TSA where he worked for 13 years. Tony enjoyed traveling the world, watching reruns of his favorite westerns and SciFI shows, listening to oldies on his IMAC and, most of all, taking daily walks with his beloved schnauzer, Rose. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Christine, his children, Matthew Elmore and Greshan (Stepro) Elmore, four grandchildren, Rachel and Mackenzie Elmore, Samantha Stepro, Stephen Stepro, two great grandchildren, Salem and Savannah, his sister Beverly Elmore Parker, nephew Reid Parker and niece, Denise Parker. Tony will be laid to rest with military honors at 10:00am, Friday, April 23, 2021 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
