Howard R. Erwin's Obituary
Howard R. Erwin, 79, of Clearwater, Florida, passed Friday, August 11, 2017 at his residence under the care of Suncoast Hospice Yellow team. Howard was born in Ashland Kentucky on September 3, 1937. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1956 and the University of Kentucky in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce. Howard moved to Florida with his family in 1972 and was employed at Honeywell before starting his own business, Quality Tire Center in 1975 in Dunedin, Florida and then building his store in Clearwater in 1982. Howard was a Deacon and before his illness taught Sunday School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In Ashland, he was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching the Florida State University basketball games. Sometimes he thought they were losing, and find out the next morning that they had won the game. His grandsons, Brandon and Austin were involved with the team in student management capacity. Howard also loved skiing and riding his motorcycle with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marie Erwin. Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia; daughters Linda Lee Lazzari and Leslie Lynn Erwin; two grandsons Brandon and Austin Lazzari; sister Mary White Colt (Jim) of Ashland, Kentucky; brothers Dr. William. A. Erwin (Patty) of Kettering, Ohio, Robert Thomas Erwin, Jr. of Spring Hill, Florida, and Charles H. Erwin (Sharon) of Mobile, Alabama; and his very much loved nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Sharon Brockman and brother-in-law, David Brockman.
