Howard E. Peters' Obituary
On December 6, 2024, Howard E. Peters Jr, formally from Jamestown, New York, left his earthly family and friends to go home to be with his Lord and heavenly and family and friends. He was surrounded by family at home. Born August 18, 1936 to Howard E and Nettie Peters, Howie grew up in Lakewood, New York, graduated from Southwestern in 1955, and worked as a bus driver before starting at the Jamestown Electric Plant BPU. He worked with the BPU for 36 years retiring in 1996 as Power Plant Foreman. He sparked lights in the city and in everyone he encountered. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Isabel Joy Peters and they were a team for 63 years before her passing in 2020. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun and active in the Vikings Lodge #65.
After they both retired, they wintered Palm Harbor for a few years before becoming full-time residents in 2009. Howie was strong in his faith and an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor.
Howie enjoyed many activities including boating, water skiing, dancing with Izzy, dinner with friends, playing dominoes, cheering for the bills, and most of all, playing golf. No matter where Howie went, his laugh and joyful personality attracted genuine connections with those around him, and he was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. In Florida, he enjoyed going to shows, movies, and dinners with his Highland Lake friends when they were not catching up on the golf course. No matter where he was, he always made time to connect with and catch up with his family with phone calls and visiting when he could.
Howie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Isabel; parents; his siblings, Juva, Diane, and Glenn (Pete).
Howie is survived by his son, Douglas (Beverly) Peters; his daughter, Gail (Dan) Martin; two granddaughters, Kate Peters and Jennifer Martin; his sister-in-law, Barbara Dehil; and several nieces and nephews.
While he leaves a hole in the hearts of those who love him, Howie lived a full life and impacted many lives in his 88 years. A memorial service will be held in Palm Harbor, Florida and Lakewood, New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, Florida 33760. Arrangements are entrusted to Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Dunedin, Florida.
