Irma Stanley Day's Obituary
Irma Lee (Stanley) Day passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025. She was born November 21, 1926 in a “little green tenant house” in Reed, KY, the third of four daughters to the late Hannah (Green) and Neil McCormick Stanley.
Irma became a longtime active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Clearwater immediately upon moving to Clearwater in 1961. In 1977, at the request of Pastor Bill Anderson, she became a founding member of Countryside Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday School Director and Director of the Preschool for many years. She later started the Young at Heart program for seniors.
As a compassionate Christian woman who was always helping others through education and numerous charitable venues, Irma was a true “lady” in every sense of the word, but mostly by the example she set and the way she led her life for 98 beautiful years. She was a true inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Rays, and attended many home games through the years. Playing cards with family and friends was one of her favorite pastimes, even at the age of 98.
Irma took immense pride in her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her husband of 55 years, William T. Day and daughter, Sally E Butler, she is survived by daughters, Linda Burke and Kathy Day; grandchildren Stephanie Tocco, Bill Burke (Rosy), and Sarah Burke (Brett Bernsee); great grandchildren Erin Knight, Olivia Tocco, Will Burke, Ben Burke, Caroline Burke and many nieces and nephews.
Irma Stanley Day “Ms. Irma” lived her entire life serving and giving to others and always honoring Jesus Christ every day of her life in all that she did.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2025 with Visitation starting at 10:00 AM at Countryside Baptist Church, 2525 McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater, FL. 33761
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any charitable donations be made in her memory to either Countryside Baptist Church/RRR Building Fund, 2525 McMullen Both Rd., Clearwater, FL 33761, or Samaritan’s Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, or the charity of your choice.
