YOUNG, Jack E., Jr.
of Clearwater, Fl. went home peacefully in his sleep and woke up in all of Heaven’s Glory with his Lord & Savior on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. Jack was born in Waldo, Fl. Feb. 12, 1922… he was just a few weeks shy of his 93rd birthday.
His family moved to Tampa when he was a baby and then to Clearwater where he graduated from Clearwater High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters & 1 brother. Served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier, the USS Shangri-La during WWII in the South Pacific. He married Sarah “Agnes” Curls, also of Clearwater High School, during his early Navy service, they settled in Clearwater after the war to raise their family.
He worked as a lineman his whole career with the Peninsula Telephone Company in Clearwater which was bought out by General Telephone and later by Verizon. He was a long time member of Skycrest Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and later at North Dunedin Baptist Church. Jack and his wife Agnes’s lifelong loves “together” were fishing, arts and crafts & craft shows and gardening their roses to answer a calling of delivering those beautiful roses to sick church members, sharing the beauty of their roses and their love to so many over so many years. .
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Sarah “Agnes”. Survived by a daughter, Frances “Earlene” Jones of Clearwater and a son, James “Jim” Edward Young (wife Carolyn) formerly of Clearwater, now residing in Plant City, Fl.
His grandchildren by his daughter Earlene are Kimberly Ann Jones and Jennifer Mae Lemnus (husband Brian).
His great grandchildren by his daughter Earlene are Jack and Amanda Lemnus.
His grandchildren by his son James ”Jim” are Adrienne Adeana Young Ramsey (husband Luke), Ashley Booth Young Ulmer (husband Kyle), Ainsley Booth Young Nobara (husband Ricardo), James Wm. Eardley Jr. (wife Thongmuan) and Jon Wm. Eardley (wife Zandra).
His great grandchildren by his son James “Jim” are Elijah Ramsey, Oliver & Ada Ulmer, Aleida & Vivien Nobara, Teak Eardley, Andy & Marlee Davis Eardley and Hailley Bell Eardley.
Visitation will be from 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, January 24 followed by services at 1PM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home,693 S. Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL.
Graveside services will follow with Naval Military Honors at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery, 2853Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater.
