Jacqueline Johnson Ormerod's Obituary
Jacqueline Johnson Ormerod "Jackie", a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025, in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born on August 18, 1933, in King William County, Virginia, Jackie enjoyed a keen intellect and humor living a life filled with love of family and others, which was felt by all who knew her.
Jackie earned her BA degree in English from the College of William and Mary, and it was during this time that she met Roger, the love of her life. Jackie and Roger traveled the world extensively in later years eager to see the world’s marvels. As a professional, Jackie held the role of administrator with AC Nielsen Media Research and made significant contributions to her team.
Jackie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years and college sweetheart, Roger Ormerod; her daughter Sarah Richards Ormerod; her parents Louise and Webster Johnson; and her sister Lois Richards Johnson Willis (Gerald T. Willis Jr.).
Jackie is lovingly remembered by her daughter Elizabeth Ormerod Sanders (Rick), and her son Thomas Clemence Ormerod (Amy). She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Sarah Ormerod, Meagan Ormerod, Joseph Sanders and Tristin Standish and four great grandchildren as well as a niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jackie was an active member of several Episcopal congregations in the places she called home: St. John's in West Point, VA; St. Paul's in Shelton, CT; St. John's in Barrington, RI; Trinity Episcopal in Shrewsbury, MA; St. Mark's in Westhampton Beach, NY; and Episcopal Church of Ascension in Clearwater, FL.
Her volunteerism was both broad and heartfelt. She served as a Gray Lady in Williamsburg and volunteered with the Abilities Foundation. She was involved in organizations such as the P.E.O., Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Cross, and as a Pink Lady at local hospitals. Jackie's commitment to youth development was evident through years of leadership with both Boy Scouts—serving as a Cub Scout leader—and Girl Scouts where she held roles including Cadette leader and Secretary for the Massachusetts Girl Scout Council. Throughout her life, Jackie remained a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega.
Jackie’s adventurous spirit shone brightly throughout her marriage. Moving with her family to Greece which allowed the family to experience such a rare and unique opportunity was just one such moment. She travelled with Roger across nearly every corner of the globe—with only Australia and Alaska left unexplored. These journeys enriched their lives together and created lasting memories that she treasured deeply. Jackie always made friends and memories along the way.
Jackie will be remembered and loved for her kindness, generosity, wit, friendship and extraordinary intelligence. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
A service will be held at the Episcopal Church of Ascension in Clearwater, FL. on October 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Episcopal Church of Ascension in Clearwater, FL. or to a favorite charity.
