Jacquelyn M Ferreira's Obituary
Ferreira, Jacquelyn Marie (Duffy), 82, of Largo, FL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb 10th. Jackie was born in Lowell, MA, Feb 19, 1939. She attended St. Michaels Elementary, and then onto Lowell High school where she graduated in 1957. On July 12th, 1958, she married the man of her dreams, Joseph P. Ferreira, Jr. The love and care they shared for each other was evident in all they did together.
Family meant everything to Jackie. Gatherings at the family homestead in Westford were a common occurrence, the door was always open for family and friends. The amount of food that came through her small kitchen fed the bodies and souls of many.
Through the years she managed to not only be an unconditional giver of love, she also managed the family business, J.P. Ferreira and Sons, for many years. Later in her life she worked for Aetna and eventually retired from there.
Jackie was very devoted to her faith. Active through the years as CCD instructor, Eucharistic Minister, Marriage Encounter and Cursillo. She loved the Lord and we know that she is rejoicing with him now.
She may have been small in stature, but she was a strong fighter till the very end. For the past 17 years she fought the good fight against Parkinson’s. She would not let this disease keep her down.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Edward Duffy. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Joseph. She was mother of five: John Ferreira and Penny, James Ferreira and Jaclyn, Joseph Ferreira and Tammy, Jeffrey Ferreira and Brenda, and Jennifer Ferreira. Grandmother to seven: Joseph (Lindsey), Danielle, Christian (Brittany), Cassie, Justin, Kate and Patrick. And great grandmother to three: Sloane, Silas and Joseph. Also survived by her sisters: Doris O’Brien (Francis), Patricia Ducharme and Claire Demarco.
She will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life service will be held in August, at St. Catherine’s Church, Westford, MA. Date is still to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honor her life, a donation made in her memory to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated, [email protected]. 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN
