Ashley, Alison and Anabel,
So sorry about the loss of Stanley. We share in your grief as well as the many great memories of Stanley, Aunt Betty, Grandmother, Granddaddy, Uncle Jerry and my dad. Even though we are sure to stay in touch, trips to Florida will never be the same.
Stanley was special and had a way of making others feel very special. He was kind and considerate and I'll miss the birthday cards he and Aunt Betty sent as well as the phone calls they made to me on birthdays and the wonderful juicy oranges they sent us for the holidays. Earlier memories I have of Stanley were his visits to Gadsden when he stopped by on his way to the Kentucky Derby as I remember his love of horse races.
I will mostly remember Stanley for his pleasant smile and kind manner. He will be missed.
Your cousin,
Carol
Stanley and I were 2nd cousins and I was just one year older than him. We grew up together because his grandmother and my mother were sisters and we always spent a lot of time together as kids. We were at Church together and relatives homes together and were always at family reunions together. Stanley was always a very caring person and his concern for others was evident. His mother planned a trip to Mexico for me, Stanley, and his dad back in 1969. We had a great time there. We went to a bull fight at an arena and it was gory. Stanley asked them what they did with dead bulls and they said, You will be eating it for supper! We didn't eat that night. Stanley and I shared good phone call conversations over the years as he was in Florida and I was in Alabama. We all loved Stanley and will miss him, but we'll meet again in Heaven. Thank you Lord, for Stanley Freeman!
Stanley and I were 2nd cousins and played together as children. As we grew older we were separated by time and distance. He moved to Dunedin with his mother and grandparents several years ago. He had an incredible love for his family and visited with us often when he returned to Gadsden. When we talked on the phone he always asked about other family members. Even as he approached these last weeks and days, he was asking how we were all doing. I don't recall him complaining one time when we talked - just said he very sick. My family always enjoyed exchanging Christmas cards with him and Betty. Although we are saddened by his passing, it is reassuring to know that he is not suffering any more. Stanley was so fortunate to be loved by his sisters and especially Anabelle who has taken such loving care of him. I pray that his family will be comforted during the days and weeks to come. I pray that those of left behind will love our families like he loved us. Johnny Lee
