James Frederick Grindrod's Obituary
James (Jim) Frederick Grindrod 70 born June 22, 1944 in Carlisle Pennsylvania died suddenly and unexpected in Pinellas Park on February 21st, 2015 he is preceded in death by Father George Frederick Grindrod and Mother Pauline Mabel Egolf. Survived by Daughter Donna Junkins and son-in-law Mark Junkins of Largo Fl. Brother Larry Grindrod and sister-in-law Mary Grindrod of Pensacola Florida Granddaughter Amanda Trudell of Crystal River, FL. Grandson Jacob Junkins of Largo, FL. and Grandson Jonathan Junkins of St. Augustine, FL. Niece Tara Grindrod Schneider of NY and adopted daughter Sondra Dubose of Celina, Tennessee. James graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 1964 and entered the Naval Reserve from 1963-1965 and enlisted in the Navy in 1965, as a Seabee and served in the Vietnam War. After serving in the war he married his high school sweetheart and started his family in Orlando, he briefly moved to New Orleans and worked as a press operator for John Harland. In the early 70's he moved to Pinellas Park, FL and opened his own Corvette body shop 'Grindrods Corvette Fiberglass'. After selling his business he worked as a supervisor at Mar-Bel, he then worked for PSTA for over a decade before retiring. Jim was a firearms enthusiast and enjoyed all thing locomotive with an emphasis on the Pennsylvania Railroad. He loves all Corvettes and was a member of both the Orlando and Tri-city Corvette Clubs. He had a colorful sense of humor and was a compassionate and giving man. He left behind family and life long friends that will miss him very much. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The American Cancer Society and/or Moffitt Cancer Center
