My fondest memory of Jim was when he and Judi picked me up for a day of activity. I was very young at the time.
The day was filled with giant strawberry sundaes, a visit to a swimming pool, and a game of miniature golf.
First, I think every meal ended with a sundae. I loved them. I loved his generosity.
During our pool outing, I was hugging the side of the pool and challenging myself to the deep end. At one point I lost my grip and started to struggle in the water because I couldn’t swim. He jumped in and saved me. He was my hero.
Later that day we all played miniature golf. I was not very good and I pulled back to hit the ball extra hard and accidentally hit Jim in the head cutting him above the eye. I felt horrible. He didn’t get mad. He counseled me instead. He was so kind.
I am not sure if I pushed all these memories together into one day. But, those memories sum up my childhood memories and time with Jim.
