James "Jim" Bayes' Obituary
James "Jim" Bayes, 75, of Clearwater, FL passed away of natural causes Saturday July 9, 2022 at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, FL at the age of 75. He was born March 18, 1947 in Detroit, MI to James Curtis and Jane (Degnan) Bayes, who have preceded him in death.
Jim was a US Army Vietnam veteran and spent the majority of his life working as a union carpenter until he retired and moved to Clearwater Beach. As an avid sports lover you could always count on a game being on TV, probably baseball or a U of M game (Go Blue!). While retired in Clearwater he enjoyed spending time at “The Cave” with his friends.
Jim was passionate about volunteering his time with the Toys for Tots charity gathering Christmas presents for children in need. He took pride in filling his Ford Explorer with as many bags of toys he could possibly fit.
Besides his parents, Jim is also preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Bangos) Bayes, daughter, Kelly Marie Hughes and a brother, Bob Bayes. Jim is survived by a sister, Barb Patten; a son, Michael (Rebecca) Bayes; son-in-law, Tom Hughes; and 4 grandchildren, Tyler Hughes, Chloe Hughes, Asia Bradley and Spencer Bayes, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
