King, Jr., James E.
Loving Father, Husband (Widowed - Ada J. King), Grandfather and Great-Grand Father of Clearwater, FL passed away at Morton Plant (Bay Care) Hospital on Thursday, April 30, 2020 of natural causes at the remarkable age of 97.
Prior to moving to Florida in 1981, James (Jim) was a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, New York. Born in Pitcarin, Pennsylvania on February 5, 1923 the son of James E. King, Sr. and Louise White-King who had two sons, James and William (Bill). Their family settled in Cresson, PA. At age 18, Jim moved to Niagara Falls where he was employed at Union Carbide Corporation. A World War II Veteran, Jim was drafted in 1943 into the US Air Force at age 18 as a radio operator stationed in Greenland. After World War II was over in 1945 Jim returned back to his original job in Niagara Falls at Union Carbide. Jim worked for Union Carbide and retired after 40 years of continuous service which included his 3 years serving his country.
Jim met Ada in Niagara Falls, NY and it was love at first site! Jim (27) and Ada (23) were married at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls on September 2, 1950 and honeymooned in New York City. Ada and Jim were blessed with three healthy children; Gail Elizabeth, the first born; then their boy, James Lewis; and their third child, Deborah Louise. Sadly, Ada passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007 at the age of 80 in their Clearwater, FL home due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Ada and Jim were the loves of each other’s lives and were married for a steadfast 57 years.
Since 1969 Jim and Ada made the world of travel their favorite pastime visiting such places as China, Japan, Australia, five different countries in Europe, Israel, Iraq, Egypt and their favorite place was Hawaii.
Jim is survived by his three children, Gail, Jimmy and Debbie and her husband, Rick, all living in Clearwater and Belleair Bluffs, FL and Grandson Gregory James Zimmerman (son of Gail King and Gregory S. Zimmerman) living in Ocoee, FL (suburb of Orlando, FL) who blessed the King family with two Great-Grand Children, Dylan Gregory age 9 and Skylar James age 5. Jim will be forever blessed as just a few months prior to his passing, Gregory, Dylan and Skylar visited Jim in his home in Clearwater; a memorable visit that was cherished by Jim.
Jim’s final resting place will be in Alto Reste Park Cemetery located in Altoona, PA next to his beloved wife, Ada. A full military honor burial service at his gravesite will be performed to honor this Veteran including a full-military dressed 15 person honor guard playing taps, a 21 gun salute and the folding and presentation of the American Flag.
